I like the message and the emotion the vocalist expresses and the live instrumentation. We do not hear enough music with live instruments today and not enough music sung from the heart.

Haunting song
Unfortunately I don’t speak French.. But in this moment I wish I did...It’s a beautiful arrangement with just an acoustic guitar, vocal and a little enchanting harmonica. It’s recorded very pure with very little effect on either instrument or the vocal..This I think gives it its charm. A beautiful voice to carry the beautiful melody.

hello there Magali, you did it again! Thanks again for sending me your song to review it. I love your music, your songs and your voice very much, I think that you are one of the very best over here in N1M. Nice piano lead, I like the live sound and mix of drums. A little bit of a classic mix showing you've done your homework on your art. More artist should study the roots of their culture of art to be better at their own art. Keep up the good work and stay in the lab creating new material to stay fresh and on your toes. Amazing
It starts off with a strong piano. Then draws in a strong woman pushing a powerful theme with her strong vocals, that leave you mesmerized. There is not a flaw in her vocals. She is determined to send us an important message of the meaning of her message in her music. My body fell into the composition, and then my mind picked up on her vocals, keeping my attention, even after my mind has drifted off. The theme is universal and can be played and enjoyed anywhere.

Well done! I think it's a song with a lot of potential that gives space to many types of arrangement
It's beautiful! I love the piano and the melody. French is a beautiful language, so musical, that's why I love singing in French too and I would love to make a French version of my songs! I'm not an expert of sound engeneering, but maybe I would have made a different mix with piano-voice, I would have raised the volume of the piano a little bit (but we all know that it's about taste). Maybe I would have used a different reverberate too. Just don’t take my words for granted, I’m really not an expert about it. I also think it has enough potential to make some beautiful arrangements, with violins and cellos. Well done!

I liked the tune and would have scored higher
Had there been a resolve to the verse melody music arrangement instead of just going to the four from the one and omitting a chorus with some break from it's "sameness in the changes" . Sorry I don't understand French so the lyrics, though melodious in form are missed by my ear. Otherwise, beautiful- both vocally and instrumentally. Bob chance, Mon Cher!

Life & Death in the French Quarter
The sign of a good song is if it connects on some deeper level than the obvious. Although this beautifully written and produced song has French lyrics, nonetheless even an English speaker can appreciate the song. I know enough French to know that this song deals with life and death, and so I hang on the words making my own story line. The vocalist is convincing, and the interplay between the piano and the Spanish guitar seals the deal. Yep, the real deal!

My review of the song
First of all Magaly, I thank you for the opportunity to comment on the subject. The feeling that the song reflects in relation to life in relation to death, is a theme that is hardly ever touched in any song. I can see the passion in each of the notes that your voice expresses. For me a larger production would have been ideal, with more instruments, and preferably an orchestral arrangement. The performance of the piano is quite good, although sometimes it is spliced with the guitar. The harmonica solo is good but it is heard below volume. It is a song that is a bit long to listen to on the radio, but whoever feels the sensitivity of the lyrics does not take care of those things. I congratulate you.

Beautiful melody and accompaniment.
Your voice is beautiful. No doubt you are from France - the country of beautiful love songs. Your composition is like others I have heard but no less captivating. The quality and sound mixing is great. You certainly should be proud of this work. The piano and for that matter all of the instruments are consistent and and well played but again I commend you on this composition and voice. The pitch of your voice is exact, comforting and so pleasant to listen to. I would have loved to sing harmony with this song. I'm sure lots of vocalists would have enjoyed that. Congratulations on this composition, this beautiful work of musical art and I have already mentioned your beautiful voice to carry it all. The End of A Love
Although I do not understand "French" which I believe is the language Magali sings , I am always drawn into the music by her passion as well as her piano performance. I can feel the different movements. I feel as if she has had her heart broken and yet has somehow come to realize what has happened to her and has come to terms with it and is ready to perhaps, move on. It is a very enjoyable piece, though sad , still hopeful. I like it very much !

Magali's voice has an almost haunting quality to it. It is strong, and reflects the sound of a woman who has been through some worldly experiences, but not lost her feminine qualities. Beautiful! I think that even though my French has diminished, I can understand the awareness and the love coming from Miss fort in very well. As aI am a Norwegian, it’s hard not to think about Edit Piaf from the start, but after listening a couple of times I realize that you have your own voice, which I find touching and wonderful. This piece has its own character and I just love it! Great sound and a real acoustic feel! The mix is not hard to make, but it’s the feel of a honest story and a voice that Thales me to Paris. Really good performance and I listen to this song often, to get in the mood to do my own music. All in all, perfection!

'REMEMBERING EDITH PIAF'
I have always loved the talent and magic of the late Edith Piaf; and Margali Fortin certainly reminds me of her! Fortin has the same wonderful ability to make you happy no matter what type of song she is singing!; whether a dramatic ballad or an upbeat love song, her voice is captivating. I can imagine walking past a lounge in Paris, and hearing her lovely voice floating out. (I would definitely buy a ticket and and go in to enjoy the show!) Margali Fortin has the same ability to make you stop what you're doing and just listen to her as Piaf, and it's wonderful to find another French talent! I enjoyed listening to her and will definitely check out CDs by Margali Fortin! She's great!

Bien interpretada.

Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the soft guitar and harmonica work.Vocals are smooth and natural, sort of - down to earth as they say, and extremely peaceful. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. Nice work .... Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. Megali Fortin has a really dynamic voice and also unique vocal projection. The lyrics encapsulating the beliefs or ideals implementing an important question. The chorus is impressive about "To live means also to die a little somehow". The masterful piano is forcing the song constantly and the accompaining classical guitar sounds brilliant. The imaginative transitions in the bridge together with the harmonica makes the song lively and creative. This extra factor brings moreover deep feelings into the song. Remarkable unique recording
I like chansons and this one has impressed me deeply much. Only some expressive melodies of genuinely well played acoustic piano have the main role in this composition. I like the monotony of the track and the song is sounding slightly. Megali Fortin shows a great feeling for music although of sparse instrumentation. She has the ability of versatile expression to give an account in words about the end of a lovestory, including all the relevant events. The lyrics really tell a story and the melancholy passion touches the soul. This extrafactor is making the songwriting really creative. Overall a unique ballad good recorded. Nice Piano Intro and nice combination with an Acoustic Guitar. Also a Unique Voice. It feels like i have reviewed this one before but maybe a different song from you. Nice brass in the mid of the song that give you a good feeling. A pretty good studio mixing. Maybe there was some rhytm problems in the end of the song. I would like the here more GRAND piano it can feel a little electronic sometime and almost baffled. But a nice song. Maybe find a rhythm tools like maracas native drums of a kind like Cajones or something like that. Nice feeling to this song.

LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the piano work.Vocals are smooth and natural, sort of - down to earth as they say, and extremely peaceful. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

Review - Magali Fortin
Hi ! Beautiful base of the song. I dont understand the lyrics so it is hard to review that but i understand its about Love. The piano could have a more grand deep. It sounds a little to much synthetic. Your voice is really something special and raw in its own mind. Give the song a deep and personality. My recommendation is to perfect this peace is to use a real Grand Piano then you can make it perfect. If you do that use also some tribal low drums and a nice tambourine slow and maraccas. Put also in a bass to underlay this beautiful song. Worth to give more work. Regards LaSueede

First of all my French isn't that good that I can follow a song in the French language without reading the lyrics, but I understood the title that came by more than once. I like the composition, but I didn't hear anything surprising as the song moved on to the end, not a small bridge to break up the repetition of chords. With regards to the vocal part, you have a nice timbre, but I've heard many parts not on pitch, perhaps due to the vibrato you use. So IMO try to minimise that technique.

Rien Plus Rien Du Tout
Hello, This will be a review on what I can realistically make comments on. The lyrics are problematic due to the fact that they are in French and I am not conversant in the language. The structure of the song is nicely done. It flows from section to section well. Your writing has grown in that regard...Well done! The melody is pleasing and works well with the harmony of the song. I like the simplicity of the track a lot and your singing feels in the pocket to me. One thing...... if it were me I might look at is the lower interval limits of the piano part....the piano chords at times, gets very bass heavy (muddy) which to my ears acts as a distraction. Perhaps an inversion of the chord you're utilizing might help. The prosody feels good (marriage of the words to the music) and the listener is not distracted by the writer trying to make the words "fit" in with the music. This is a much stronger effort than the last song I reviewed of yours and shows growth on your part as a writer. As I stated earlier it's problematic for me to give a complete review due to the language issue. Good work overall and keep writing! RW

Hi Magali, many thankx for the review request. This song proves that to get an emotional message across, one does not need to scream out the lyrics. The song is laden with understated, emotional power, and is driven by a very simplistic, yet completely brilliant musical score. The piano playing is clear and almost minimal in it's musical approach to the beat/drive of the song. The vocals are perfectly pitched and the voice phrasing and timbre are very well done, and in perfect harmony with the song. This song proves that minimal instrumentation is in good order for a song to work .The only ''snag'' could be that it is a bit too long for radio if ever you want to pitch it to the stations. All in all an excellent song that is destined to take you far, keep up the good work. David

More than a song!
More than a song! I felt that while listening to this song in the unfamiliar language. It is very special to convey a feeling ... without being confronted with one another, without which images can produce a mood. What remains are sounds ..., sounds ... And then it depends on the emotionality of the singer / singer and his / her voice, how he / she understands the feeling of transporting emotion. You understand it very well and I thank you with a deep curtsey.

Great Potential
Magali, I love hearing music in a different language so perhaps I'm not the best true reviewer. :-) I'm already jaded because I love the sound of music. What I would love to hear is this same song slowed down. Make it slower and more soulful. I imagine this on a grand piano, much slower, with a nice reverb on it, as if recorded on a grand stage in a large venue, and you singing it at a slower tempo with more deliberation. I think if you relaxed the piano some and slowed it down, your delivery would have a calmer expression. I think the song itself is lovely. I would love the opportunity to produce this song for you. If only I lived in France. :-) Perhaps some day I can visit and we can sit and discuss music and our dreams. Good luck with the music!

The only strange thing is right in the middle of the song the solo bass with some noises that are a bit unpleasant. Beautiful and heartfelt song. Salut Magali, your song and voice remind me of a French singer was introduced to years ago,(although she was active in the 60s and 70s I think), Veronique Sanson. Your voice, like hers, is full of emotion and sensitivity but also a great deal of strength. Thank you for sharing it with me and with the world and for requesting my review. As for the songwriting, I love the simple melodic structure of the piece because of its elegance. I practice my French so rarely over here that I only pick out a few words but I am sure that as I listen to the piece again I will understand more and more of the piece which is speaking of beauty of nature?? There is one thing I wish I could have heard more of in the composition: more presence in the piano. By that I mean I wish there could been more reverb on the piano since it was the main bed of sound for your voice. Other than that, it is an enjoyable listen and I look forward to hearing more of your work. OH! And thank you for joining my network. What an honor and surprise! Peace and love, Minka

Excellent, as usual :)
It is pretty cool that you were able to create such a rich sound with just guitar, a harmonica (the solo in the middle of the song is beautiful, by the way!), and vocals. Unfortunately, I don't speak French (I assume the song is in French because your profile says you're in France), the description of the song indicates that it is an anti-racism hymn, and I think that's a great topic to sing about! (Especially when it is done with such a strong, lovely voice!) However, I think it's important to be careful about saying there's "only one color" -- what intends to be a message of perfect equality can sometimes be interpreted as denying the experiences of people of color....denying the continuing existence of institutionalized racism & the difficulties that are suffered because of it....denying the culture and traditions and histories and unique experiences of people of color.....etc. I am certain that is not the intention at all -- I am just bringing it up as something to keep in mind ;) Anyhow spectacular song, as usual :)

Engaged song and virtuos accompanying piano
Just another great release from Megalin Fortin grabbed me right from the start! The intro feels like a story and the refrain makes the meaning of the song engaging for me. The lyrics comes from the heart and touches the soul, but the whole composition is more various. The music starts softly with harmonically melodies played on the piano. Megali sings with her unique voice and brings a distinctive feeling into the song. The chorus is impressive and the pitch range varies. The bridge is an extra factor and brings additionally beauty into the music. Brilliant accentuated whale sounds puts increasing surprise into the tune. An accompanying bass-lines is added and very special in this arrangement. This is definitely a very professional composition, very good mixing and mastering. A song about love and life and the development of events beyond personal control. But why do I tell this? This song has definitely a important message - to work also closer integration of environmental concerns. Overall a really impressive composition from a very talented songwriterin. In green and against everything
First off, I love your singing voice... It has that low register feel much like that of Carol King or, Lady Gaga but, also verya talented and, can reach up in places to add true power high end power and, accent to the ballad... I also like the piano melody which, has that Carol King feel to the style of the song, as well... Overall, I like the song very much and, would thoroughly enjoy listening to you sing it for 30 minutes in a live stage show but, it's way too long for commercial interests where intros should be short and, vocals begin under 20 seconds in to the song, and overall length around 3.5 to 4 minutes tops... This song is a power ballad so, the piano needs to carry the melody with more color... The bass is a nice touch but, is too busy and, even jumps into the lead focus which, is not right for this song... Violins would serve a better accent... Also, since it's in French, you should consider adding the lyrics to it in English to help the many English speaking people enjoy it... Overall, I enjoyed the song and, will listen to it again... Nicely done...

I immediately perceived that in the simplicity of the draft made by the beautiful Harmony of the Piano you have a great feeling to pull out when you write. aldila of the beautiful melody of your song, I personally love your way of singing. You hear what you feel and pass it on to people who listen to you. You have chosen to play this solamnente song with the piano I would say that's fine this way at most you can add a carpet of violins, but otherwise it is perfect. Brava.

nice song
Bonne nuit. And now I'll continue in English. You can hear a lot of music. Theatrical, melodramatic, loud and quiet ... This song has a lot in common, as I mean ... and surely it should be a lot better live. And a woman in French is always worth listening to! My opinion - TOP

Sensitive beautiful song
I immediately liked this song, though I don´t understand the Words. The language is not mine, so I go on the emotions this beautiful melody wakes in me. She has a sensitive voice, a nice melody and she plays the piano in a way that makes you understand that the words and the message in this ballad means a lot to her. This is a kind of song that does not need a big arrangement. It is very naked and honest in this just-piano-arrangement. Before me I can imagine a small stage in a club where Magali Fortin plays and sings. The audience is quit and very moved by this naked performance. Congratulations. You´ve made it! So .. the next step for me is to try to find out what the words is about. I love this melancholic song.

Language is no barrier
My basic french only allows me to understand a few words so thankfully, this song is so beautiful I don't care. As a guitarist, I can appreciate the skills of the music with first class picking and feel with massive amounts of interest and style which means I'm listening till the end. The vocals are delivered with passion and expertise and make you feel that your hearing something more than a pretty pop song. As a song, it is flawless and as a form of entertainment it is beautiful. Merci beaucoup !

Top notch!
In spite of my ignorance of the French language, this song moved me. The emotions still come through, even without the lyrics. I am a retired band and choir director with a masters degree in music, so I usually can come up with some sort of constructive criticism about the chord progression, melody, or performance. In this case, I just want to offer some humble praise and encouragement. I think the song is great, the performances of the vocals, guitar and harmonica are great, and you have a top notch song here! Best of luck to you.

Bravo. Nice song and very beautiful voice. The music without shrillness with just enough to sound very good. Perfectly sung and perfectly interpreted, I also like the melody and the personality it has when singing makes the song win a lot. Une Belle Chanson
A nice song - powerfully sung, with some great guitar and harmonica work. Not totally sure, since I'm not native to La Belle France, but I think it may be about a mixed-race relationship? Apologies if I have that wrong. Certainly the colour of skin is mentioned, as is hatred and violence, so I assume it is a cri de coeur regarding the evils of racism? The only thing I would say regarding the vocal, is that as the singer pushes to get the the higher notes, and to express the powerful emotion, there are very occasional tuning issues. But overall, well worth a listen!

Nice (But Better If My French Were Better!)
It would be nicer if I could understand French better, but this is (nonetheless) a nicely done piece. The piano and vocals go well together. The tone of the electric piano is very Fender Rhodes-esque, which is a nice complement to the vocals. It would be interesting to hear this with a backing orchestra and perhaps a band.

French Passion
Magali Fortin has a strong, emotive voice & passionate delivery. This is a very creditable chanson francaise & I hope she gets listened to. My only small critique of this recording is that it's a little harsh (treble heavy) & the 'piano' is obviously electronic. Itr would be really nice recorded with a real piano & the vocal softened off just a little bit, but a very good effort.

gorgeous French lullaby
What a gorgeous voice: dead accurate pitch, dripping with emotion. The guitar work is beautifully matched to the vocals, with it's bass presence and counter melodies. The chord progression is original, thoughtful, beautifully crafted. The harmonica part is nicely complementary, but I question the reverb effects. I would love to hear the harp with just a smidgen of reverb, no more than 20% of the current setting. This is one of those times I really wish I had made more of an effort to be fully bilingual. Lovely song Magali. Merci beaucoup!

Although I am unable to comment on lyric content as French is not my first language I can consider the recording and performance. The music feels as a folk type song with fluid finger picking over an acoustic guitar. The melody is pleasant, melodic, and consistent. There is angst in the voice as if the singer is longing for someone and that in the end the longing won't be reciprocated. With a language as soft as French can be I feel the approach throughout is too aggressive. The guitar is playing soft lilting refrains while the vocalist is pushing too hard on her approach. The dynamics aren't present in her delivery. Everything is at 10 so when she finally reaches her last refrain the falsetto is wispy and uneven because she has run out of steam. This artist has something here. I feel she needs to consider vocal leases daily. This will not only give you power but also a diaphragm that can carry the gentler tones without compromising any vocal support. Listen to Italy's "MIna" and how she uses dynamics or Johnny Mathis's excellent vibrato technique on Misty, or anything by Linda Ronstadt. To sell a song you want to draw the listener in. Here I feel the singer was too aggressive when they ought to have been caressing the lyrics. Also the guitar was recorded much too bright for this track, brash, busy, and at times the levels overshadowed the voice. Sometimes simpler is better, than when you use passing chords it can really stand out. The instrumental was fine. Nothing surprising but it works beautifully. For me this feels like a demo, a good demo that the artist can pick apart and detail it to it's potential perfection. It's the message, and the language can be conveyed with music to any audience listener. Listen to Mas Que Nada, Brazil '66, or Sukiyaki, Kyu Sakamoto, Never On Sunday, Melina Mercouri. The majority of the listeners didn't know what the words were but they felt the intention. It was the quality and the approach balanced with vocal skills and technique. This is a gentle song. I encourage you to treat it gently and build toward the an interesting and compelling outre. The artist is moving in the right direction. Then go have it mastered. Overall a recording like this needs warmer effects, compression, and so forth, tools that a skilled engineer can present. Be your hardest critic and your best friend, want the best, demand it from yourself, this artist can do better. Good job.

Haunting.
What an emotional rollercoaster of a song. Beautifully written and composed. Only having the harp and guitar to accompany her beautiful voice, only adds to the rawness of the song. Only knowing english did not restrict my understanding of it's meaning. So overall fantastic song which took me away, the only con would be that maybe the length of the song could be shortened. Keep up the great work. Clint x

Sorry I don’t speak French
My first review so I can only comment on the melody and the arrangement. Obviously a very serious song that has an interesting melody though not arresting. A bridge would have been nice but the harmonica solo took the place and gave some relief. Dylanesque and knowing the lyrics might have made it 4 stars.

Jolie chanson
